If you are a Rutgers University student and
would like to share your experiences of being part of the Catholic
community at Rutgers, please contact Colleen Donahue. Your comments
may appear on this page in the near future! Before I started college, I was concerned that with not having my
home parish and family support to guide me, my faith would become less important
in my life. However, when I arrived at The Catholic Center, all my fears
just disappeared. I felt soooo blessed to have such an amazing support system
of friends that have allowed and encouraged my faith to florish. The Catholic Center here at Rutgers provides a unique opportunity
for Catholics at the university to come together regularly for worship,
fellowship, friendship, community, and lots of fun. And it's
not just for students. Rutgers staff and faculty also participate
in Catholic Center events. Whether you seek advice, inspiration,
friends, or free food, you'll find it at the Catholic Center! And
I should know, since I've been a professor here at Rutgers for 27
years! The Catholic Center at Rutgers provided an environment for my
personal and spiritual growth while at Rutgers. I very much enjoyed
the social, intellectual, and Christ-centered fellowship of not only
the chaplains but also the various students and faculty that I met
over the three years while working on my graduate studies. The Catholic
Center has many programs and events that appeal to people of every
age and at every point in their spiritual journey. I very much enjoyed
Bible study, BBQs, bowling, Mass, and just getting to know other
Catholics at Rutgers . One of my favorite Catholic Center memories is of the Catholic
Circle meeting when Greg and I met Jeani, Jen, and Matt G. If it
wasn't for that day, we wouldn't have had "the old lady in the attic,"
the homemade dinner at Easton Avenue , and some very valuable friendships. |
