Liturgical Changes

First Sunday of Advent 2011

On November 27, 2011 (or the evening of the 26th if you attend the anticipation Mass),there will be a significant change in the liturgy as weknow it, as the Third Edition of the Roman Missal goes into effect in all of the Roman Catholic Churches in the United States. To prepare ourselves for the coming changes, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has a number of tools to make this transition as easy as possible. The image on the right will link to the USCCB's site about the changes and answer your specific questions (like why this is happening and who made the translation)

At the Catholic Center and St. Peter's Church, we have chosen to undertake a year of liturgical catechesis; that is, a year to focus on learning about the Mass. Each week at Mass, we will have a short talk on some aspect of the Mass itself. It is our hope that by doing this we will be well-prepared to pray the Mass with a solid understanding and a true liturgical spirit both before and after the new translation.
